Pumpkinseed Lepomis gibbosus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Centrarchidae) and associated parasites introduced to Norway

چکیده
The North American freshwater sunfish, Lepomis gibbosus (Centrarchidae), was found in a pond outside Oslo, Norway in October 2005. The large number of fish (>100) in the pond suggests successful reproduction. Two monogenean parasites, nonnative to Norway, were found on the gill filaments of the fish. The origin of the fish and associated parasites is not known.

Parasitic nematodes of pumpkinseed sunfish (Lepomis gibbosus L., 1758) from warm-water canal of a power plant in Szczecin, Poland.
Parasitological examination of 273 pumpkinseed sunfish, caught in the warm water channel at the Dolna Odra Power Plant in Stare Czarnowo near Szczecin was carried out. The total lengths of the fish ranged from 6.8 to 18.1 cm (13.3 cm means), infected fish 9.8 to 17.5 cm. In 48 individuals the presence of nematodes representing 4 species has been found: Schulmanela petruschewskii, Raphidascaris ...

We describe 10 microsatellite loci from bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus) and discuss their evolution within the Centrarchidae. All of the loci exhibit Mendelian inheritance and are unlinked. While six loci are conserved within the Centrarchidae (found also in pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus) and largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)), four have origins outside the family and two predate it by 65–...
متن کاملAlternative male reproductive tactics drive asymmetrical hybridization between sunfishes (Lepomis spp.).
The potential role of alternative reproductive tactics in circumventing premating isolating mechanisms and driving hybridization between species has long been recognized, but to date there is little empirical support from natural systems. Hybridization occurs between bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus) and pumpkinseed sunfish (Lepomis gibbosus) and it is known to be asymmetrical (male bluegill × fem...

An environment intensively studied from many perspectives, through the efforts of an interdisciplinary team of biologists, ecologists, geneticists, chemists, pedologists, etc. is Moara Domnească agroecosystem. Located in the North-East of Bucharest, the Moara Domnească Lake is used for irrigation of the neighbouring agricultural areas and also for pisciculture (Stavrescu-Bedivan et al., 2011). ...

Within the scope of a comparative study on Triaenophorosis in perch (Perca fluviatilis L.) 67 pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus L.) from Lake Schreckensee in south-western Germany were examined. Prevalence of the tapeworm Triaenophorus nodulosus (Pallas, 1781) in pumpkinseed was 38.8%. Plerocercoids were detected in liver tissue, either as free larvae or encapsulated. Capsules often contained caseo...
